Recently, Aiken Carbon completed the zero-emission project of sulfide in the Fischer plant roaster. The Fiskar plant is located in Kristiansand, southern Norway. The entire project was built by the Norwegian Environment Fund and Aiken in a total investment of 141 million Norwegian kroner. According to the plan, new energy recovery and vulcanization units will be used in the project.
The Fiskar plant has a total of 13 roasters, three of which are used to produce petroleum coke, which accounts for 60% of the total SO2 emissions from the plant. The project is mainly designed to renovate these three roasters. The new unit can reduce the sulfur emissions by 98%, thus reducing the total sulfur emission of Ecken Carbon by 70%.
In addition, the new unit also helps Aiken Carbon reduce energy consumption. Asphalt is the main raw material for the electrode paste made by Aiken Carbon. The new device makes the exhaust gas generated by the roaster heat the heat transfer oil through the heat exchanger, and the heat transfer oil keeps the asphalt flowing during storage and production. Excess heat can also be used to remove moisture from anthracite, ensuring calcination. In addition to being used in the production process, the large amount of heat generated by the exhaust gas can also be used as an office and building heating in the Eckensfest plant area.
Odd Olsen, director of production at the Fiskar plant, said: "The smooth implementation of the project will help us achieve energy conservation and emission reduction, and it means that Aiken Carbon has taken a step towards the goal of a green factory. "
